Indy Chamber Helps Small Business Grow with Procurement Roundtables  – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

When she started her trucking and hauling business in 2016, Crystal Simonton thought the Indy Chamber existed only to help large companies, not small businesses like hers.

Simonton is the owner of CAS Transport, a company that hauls materials like dirt, sand, gravel, asphalt, and more to local construction sites. She says she fell in love with trucking thanks to her father, who spent his career in the industry.

In 2023, Simonton entered a pitch competition hosted by the Indy Chamber and quickly learned that the local organization is invested in the success of businesses of all sizes. “It took off from there.” She says she loves that the Indy Chamber hosts procurement roundtables, designed to bring small business owners together with decision-makers who award contracts for local and state projects. “They want to see you grow.”

Martina Jackson, the Senior Director of PR and Communications for Indy Chamber, says the organization acts as a voice and advocate for local small businesses. “That is the driving force that impacts the decisions we make.”

Jackson says the Indy Chamber works hard to provide resources and opportunities to all its members, regardless of size. She says one of the most important functions of the organization is to create connections, spaces, and platforms for businesses to access resources and partners.

With corporate partners like Lilly and Cummins in attendance at its procurement roundtables, Jackson says it’s a great way for small businesses to build relationships and connections that foster growth.
