Small businesses hope to cash in on Super Bowl
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – In less than four months, New Orleans will host Super Bowl LIX.
The big game is expected to generate millions and the NFL wants underrepresented businesses to cash in.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be in the arena, literally with the NFL and all of the power they have to platform and help other people to get to know each other,” said Ben Miller, co-founder of the Judy Garlands.
The NFL partnership with the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee is working with over 200 business owners from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Those include minorities, women, LGBTQ+ and those with disabilities. Monday, businesses were able to network with each other, NFL executives and the Super Bowl LIX host committee.
“Opportunities like this don’t come often,” said Chincie Mouton, director of community engagement for the Super Bowl Host Committee. “The Super Bowl brings so much access to opportunity and exposure for our small businesses. This is really an opportunity for them to showcase who they are, their capacity and their capabilities.”

Business owners believe this partnership is a big opportunity to expand their footprint.
“I’ve had the opportunity to do two events already and I have another one coming up in two weeks which is gearing to the Source. I am very excited and I’m just overwhelmed,” said Pamela Allen, owner of Elite Affairs Event Rentals.
Allen said being a Super Bowl Source Member goes beyond expanding her business.
“So, to help other small business within the community and to give them guidance on how to move forward with their business,” Allen said.
Jay Cicero, president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation said the program not only grants networking opportunities with NFL vendors but the chance to win contracts.
“To be able to put that on your resume, to be able to say that I did work for Super Bowl 59 or the NFL, that should lead to more business down the road,” Cicero said.
Super Bowl LIX is Sunday, February 9, 2025.
