502 Black Business Week 2025 kicks off with farmers market
Sunday’s farmers market celebrated both Black fatherhood and local businesses.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The annual 502 Black Business Week started off with a weekend farme’s market this year.
The West End Farmers Market happened Sunday in the California Park, and it helped celebrate both Black fatherhood and local businesses.
Families enjoyed more than 30 local vendors, live music, wellness activities and a special body movement workshop for dads.
“I’m trying to do my best to make sure I can be a bridge not only for the generation, the next generation, but for all the folks being overheard, to let you know that we don’t have to leave the West End to be successful, we can be successful here if we put it in for each other,” the director of the farmer’s market, T’von Terry, said.
It’s the eighth year for 502 Black Business Week, which is a citywide initiative and it coincides with Juneteenth this year.
The week spotlights Black-owned businesses with special deals, discounts and promotions.
Organizers said it’s a great way to support local Black businesses and help close the racial wealth gap.
Shoppers just need to mention “502 Black Business Week” at any participating business.
